Lidköping by Vänern
The province Västergötland is fabulous. Lidköping is one of its most beautiful treasures! A wonderful summer town with a harbour, nice esplanades and a famous city park.

Skalunda Cottage Rental
We moved to Lagmansgården in December 2000. We believe that Skalunda might be an important contribution to an increased tourism in Lidköping. Our first contribution to such a ”small-scale” tourism is cottage rental during the holiday season, during Christmas and New Year holidays, at Easter, Whitsun and other festivals. During the low-season we are willingly renting the cottages during some longer periods to students, people working in the surroundings just for a shorter period of time, families needing a completely furnished, first-rate housing while waiting for a permanent housing etc. We also welcome cottage rental during low-season and off-season weekends. We are gradually rebuilding and changing the farm to make it suit these purposes.

|
At the moment four houses are completely ready for renting: “Storstugan” (the large cottage), “Lillstugan” (the small cottage), Granngården (the neighbouring farm) and "Pannhuset" (the furnace room). Drängstugan (the farm-hands’ quarters) will be ready until the summer 2009. The vicinity to our stables, enclosed pastures and different riding grounds is met as a matter of course.
We believe that quality and service will yield a profit.

The Skalunda village
Skalunda is situated quite 10 kilometres north-west of Lidköping. The village and the surrounding area are very beautifully situated quite close to the lake Vänern. It is an agricultural district having historical traditions. As early as at the end of the 13th century the Skalunda “home” is mentioned as one of “eight homes” of Västergötland.
One of Sweden's oldest churches can be found here; some parts of the building were built approx. in the year 1150. The churchyard – surrounded by beautiful lime-trees – gives evidence of the long history of the district. Among others there are two rune stones.

Skalunda Hög
The famous Skalunda Hög (a burial-mound) is located in the neighbourhood of the church. The diameter is 65 m and the height is 7 metres and it was probably erected during the 8th century. There are lots of legends about what is hidden in it. During the Middle Ages, Kungsgården (the State demesne) for the village of Skalunda was situated here. Quite close to Skalunda Hög there is a stone circle.

Lagmansgården
Lagmanstorp is situated north of the church and south of it you can find Lagmansgården. The names of the farms give evidence of the fact that Skalunda has been an important place and that several farms in Skalunda originate from the Middle Age.
In the ”geometrical earth book” of Gabriel Bengtsson Oxenstierna (1586-1656), which was written in 1653, his estate in Västergötland was depicted. The estate comprised the manor farms Lindholmen and Främmestad, and some individual freehold farms along the roads to Gothenburg and Jönköping. Among others Lagmansgården and Pantegården in Skalunda are mentioned amongst the farms listed as the property of the estate.
Historical parcelling and partitions of estate have given rise to the fact that today there are four different farms; all with the name Lagmansgården. We are living on Lagmansgården 2, but we are also the owners of Lagmansgården 4, which is near by. Lagmansgården 1 and 5, Pantegården and Smedegården are four of our neighbouring farms.
